Beautiful aircraft shown in the movie....

Which is of course the whole point of the trailer - to promote the film and of course today's politically correct values.

I wonder if anyone will throw in a reference about global warming?

Good point. I wonder if we will ever go to the cinemas to see a movie about Gunther Prien or Hartmann or Whitmann (maybe they´ll strip Whitmann of his Waffen SS uniform and potray him as a regular army guy)?

As far as I recall there are news of a movie about a real German hero: Baron von Richtofen which is due to be on screens in 2008. It´s a German production. Well, in WWI the Germans were, again, the bad guys but at least they weren´t nazis... but it´s likely that western youth must believe that WWI was the same of WWII and that nazis were present in 1914-1918. As a matter of facts many youths nowadays can´t find the US in a world map.

Best regards...

There was of course Das Boot.
The general notion at Das Boot is that the German are losing: destroyer hammering U-Boats. The real new approach is to show the German victories also: Royal Oak, DS, Tobruk, the French Campaign, Kharkov, Yugoslavia, Greece, Norway, etc. etc. etc.

Totally off the off topic, but related to pc. Have you noticed how the donkey in Shrek doesn't have any, hmmmm, "bits"? I guess Disney just couldn't bring themselves to add that much realism!!

Global warming? Don't get me started on that topic I tend to rant about it!

The Das Boot film included the torpedoing of a British tanker and graphic scenes of British seamen on fire and screaming in pain, jumping into the sea. The Germans were not the only ones being hammered in this production.

Hey

Karl I dont agree with you...

Hitler did betray Germany.
He wanted to do everythin for Germany, he wanted it to be a World Power, etc, but he also wanted his War.

He did not tell the comman man, but as Müllenheim-Rechberg said, Hitler always wanted his war.
And there is no excuse for that.

As a German myself I dont consider Stauffenberg as Germany's Greatest Hero, but you cant really pick One to be the countries greatest hero.
He did a very courageous thing and if his plan would have succeeded many, many , many lifes would have been saved.

Incidentially Rommel, (which to me is a much greater "hero") tried to negotiate Peace Talks with the Allied side just after or before D-Day. That was 1944, and if that had happened all the people who died between 1944 and 45 in the European Theatre wouldnt have died (neglecting the Eastern Front).

Goin back to Cruise...it doesnt matter what religion he believes in, but the story should have been done by a German Studio with a German crew and cast.

But we cant really change that now, can we....

The problem with movies about these two individuals would be the angle you would take on them as charachters, and to make the film more ''interesting'' that is more commercially viable, they would be highly fictionalised accounts.....
