Gary:
Thanks, friend.
Man, thinking about it there must be one for every BBor BC in the famous Top Ten List, because all of them deserve at least such a souvenir. As for me Bismarck is still E Pluribus Unum but I´ll love one of Hood.Nice mugs but why do none of them have Scharnhorst on?
Oh by the way, congratulations Karl
Thanks, friend.

Thanks for the recommendation. This book has actually existed since 1977 (1979 in the US), and I still have my copy. It's been a staple of my collection for more than 25 years, and was originally titled : BATTLESHIP.
Its subtitle was : The Sinking of the Prince of Wales and the Repulse which, from what I see at Amazon, has now become the book's title proper. My Scribner's edition features the famous photo of Prince of Wales survivors making their way aboard HMS Express.
I can imagine the above book has added new material, after so many years since the original. I'll have to grab a copy and compare them.
Meanwhile, I can also recommend another book on the battle: From Amazon
This excellent work examines the events of 12/10/41 from a refreshing and informative perspective, and in my opinion makes a worthwhile companion to the accounts published heretofore.
Cheers!
Hi RNFanDan.
Thank you for your recommendation.
The photograph of men leaving the listing Prince of Wales is as wonderful as it is awful (if you get my meaning).
Especially when one guy in the photograph is in mid air because he is jumping from POW to the deck of the Destroyer Express.
I believe that about 4 out of every 5 POW men survived.
The bulk of the casualties were from the Repulse.
I assume you will be aware of the Force Z site
Prince of Wales and Repulse were 2 VERY fine ships

Hi Karl.
From what I have read on the Force Z site, Prince of Wales's crew was made up largely of hostilities only men.
Where as Repulse had a larger margin of pre-war enlisted men.
The crew of HMS Repulse was considered to be one of the Royal navies better crews and they had enormous respect for their Captain (Bill Tennant) they would have jumped through hoops if he'd told them to.
Even though Repulse's 15 inch guns were limited to 23,500 yards, the crew could use them effectively.
Besides, you arent going to score many hits much beyond 23,500 yards anyway.
She was the Royal Navies weakest capital ship but one of the fastest.
Repulse was, by all accounts, a "happy ship".
The same sadly could not be said of Prince of Wales

RNfanDan:
Where I can buy a mug like yours? I find it very attractive and beggining to believe that a collection can be made.
Gary:
Thanks for the Repulse´s crew information. What an irony: the best crew of RN shared her end with the most hostile crew in Force Z tragedy.
Best regards.

How about one for Kormoran? Unlike Scharnhorst she did take on a warship far superior to herself and sink her! In fact I think she was the only KM ship to do that, if anybody knows differently let me know.José M. I want to thank and, also, congratulate José Rico because of his effort for having this web page and for giving us the opportunity to express ourselves around the topic which we love the most: the Bismarck, the battleships and naval warfare. (I admitt that sometimes some of us go a little farther than that, but nobody´s perfect...)
The "tile" with the HSF battleflag in a wooden frame is just beautiful and is now with the Bismarck´s beer mug at the feet of this trio of 1/350 model ships:
Hood - Bismarck - PoW
Thanks and God bless you, friend.
