Bismarck's turning radius...

Post by Mark E Horan »

Gentleman;

The myriad of technical details of Bismarck are not my forte by any means. I was wondering if there is any exisiting information about what the tactical turning radius was for either Bismarck or Tirpitz at 24 knots (or close to that speed)?

If anyone has the information, I would need to know the source.

Thanks in advance for any information on this.

I haven't seen such information but I would guess that with Bismarck's twin rudders it would be similar to a USN BB, such as Iowa.

This is not for Bismarck but it may help.

Turning radius of a 3-shaft German battleship (Gneisenau) with the rudders hard to port/starboard at different speeds.
