Hello -
I'm hoping that someone could shed some light on some research that I am doing. I own an old metal lathe that is dated 1942 (I have documentation to prove this) and there is a metal tag mounted that indicated this item was owned by the US Navy. The brass tag
shows: US 5293 KM. I believe that this is what is called a 'Naval Plant Account Tag'. I would appreciate it if any has any further information as to which Naval Plant the 'KM' may represent? I thought it might be interesting to track down where this item was used. Based on the date of the lathe, I am figuring it was used in WWII.
Any information that you could offer would be appreciated.

"KM" may mean "Kaiser Marine".
Re: WWII Naval Property Information Request
Someone mentioned to me that 'KM' may mean 'Kings Mountain'. Does that location ring a bell with anyone?
Thanks

Meine Herren, es kann ein siebenjähriger, es kann ein dreißigjähriger Krieg werden – und wehe dem, der zuerst die Lunte in das Pulverfaß schleudert!
