I see the listing given is as a part of a support operation, from which it is not clear whether that intended use in the English Channel. As the engines were playing up (again) had the invasion gone ahead towards the end of September there would have been no involvement.

Or it could have been a very short involvement. If the engines acted up during a feint I certainly wouldn't want to be on Hipper with Hood and escorts coming over the horizon.

You can define the rate of fuel consumption in PG at medium speed: 15...25 knots
