Status of KGV's Walrus on May 27, 1941

Post by MJQ »

Before delving into any new modeling projects, I'm trying to finish some things that have been laying around unfinished. That being said, I'm thinking of trying to finish my Airfix 1/600 KGV (below), which I'm building as of May 27, 1941. The construction of the Airfix kit parts is mostly done, "all" that is left is the WEM set specifically designed for the ship (it's a project unto itself).

Does anyone know if King George V carried her Walrus exposed on the catapult during the engagement with Bismark? I flipped through Tarrants book on the KGV-class last night, and the only picture of KGV during the battle I saw was very dark, so I was unable to see if the Walrus was there. I'd like to just leave the Walrus off (one less thing to do!) if it was flown off or put in the hangar. I'd be surprised if it was still on board, due to the risk of fire, but I didn't see it mentioned in the book.

TIA...
