Re: USS Bismarck
Well the USS Prince Eugen was the Prince Eugen. She sailed under US colors from Germany to the US after the war and then to the Pacfic and her ultimate resting place at Kwajalien. See the picture at upper right on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_cruiser_Prinz_Eugen

Re: USS Bismarck
Well, as a proud German ship she endured the greatest and more destructive weapon of all time and, damaged, was torpedoed. A fine end for a proud warship... and a lucky warship as a matter of fact.

Re: USS Bismarck
I don't think there ever was USS Bismarck in the Star Trek movies or tv series, the online multiplayer society has thousands of members and someone must have named their ship the Bismarck.
I did find a reference to a USS Bismarck in a Star Trek book, no real details about their ship other then it is a Defender Class Starship. I let a Trekie fill in the rest.

Re: USS Bismarck
Not a treki but a quick google netted:
http://stexpanded.wikia.com/wiki/Bismar ... d_century)
which looks like it's a star fleet battles site. Not sure if that qualifies or not.
This one is also a game related link that mentions a Bismarck class:
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Federation_Commander
This one relates to a star trek novel:
http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/USS_B ... der_class)
Did the same for Eugen and Star Trek and found out that Roddenberry's son is named Eugen.

Re: USS Bismarck
IIRC, USS Bismarck was used on a raiding operation into the Klingon Empire during the Klingon-Federation war...Bismarck fought a successful action near the Deemarkian star systems, and reportedly destroyed an elderly Klingon BC, but received major propulsion damage in return and was steadily losing Dilithium crystals through a damaged warp core containment field. Bismarck made a run for Federation space, but was damaged by a photon torpedo that destroyed her maneuvering gear. Unfortunately, Bismarck's 3 nacelle drive system prevented her from using impulse engines for steering...she was then overwhelmed by two Klingon starships aided by several smaller vessels.

Wow... it seems fate, isn't it? Always overwhelmed by numerical superior foes...

Sounds rather familiar doesn't it? I wonder who was in command?dunmunro wrote: IIRC, USS Bismarck was used on a raiding operation into the Klingon Empire during the Klingon-Federation war...Bismarck fought a successful action near the Deemarkian star systems, and reportedly destroyed an elderly Klingon BC, but received major propulsion damage in return and was steadily losing Dilithium crystals through a damaged warp core containment field. Was Prinz Eugen ever officially "USS"? I don't think she was ever comissioned as an active ship in the US Navy - Likewise I've never heard of Nagato being "USS Nagato."
