Did anyone see this: Von Richthofen and Brown? I found it digging in allmovie.com.

Nope. I imagine is a potrayal of how Brown shot down the Red Baron, which was not, because the Red Baron was shot by some aussies with AA fire.

The allmovie review says the fighting scenes are good.

The fighting scenes have to be good to make the film a saleable commodity, after all it is in the business of entertainment. The problem is that historical accuracy is sacrificed for a ''good'' film.

The Heinkels He-111 used in the Battle of Britain film were Spanish built CASA 2111 of the Spanish Air Force.

I visited the Air Museum here in Madrid a few months ago and they had one of them on display as well as another veteran of the Spanish Civil War.

If I remember correctly there are also at least two Hispano HA 1112M-1L Buchon; the Spanish version of the Bf-109.

Private Ryan is as close as it gets to real combat from what I've seen and from what WW2 vets who were there have said about it, U-577 for the depth charge scenes.

I agree about "Saving Private Ryan", particularly the D-Day invasion part.

The Das Boot depth charge scenes were better, and U-577 was a terrible movie in general. A lot of it was ridiculous.

I agree that the scenes of D-Day for Saving Private Ryan were good. But the best Spielberg´s combat can be seen in Band of Brothers Chapter 4: Replacements. It´s when Easy Company is about to occupy a town in Holand during Operation Market Garden and find it already occupied by Germans. The small unit combat there is, simple, superb and you can actually see how the infantry tactics are potrayed. Very good, much better than Saving Private Ryan.
About Das Boot is a very good movie, very depressing and we don´t actually see a sub combat (as you can see in The Enemy Below or the Bongo Strait).
U-whatever is just stupidity as can only be seen in a Hollywood contemporary movie (with Pearl Harbor in close competition).

Not being a Cameron fan myself I have to say that Titanic was far more superior, as a movie and historical document, than Pearl Harbor which is one of the greater trash film ever filmed...

Agreed, Titanic is flawless in its technical details, while in Pearl you have to suffer the Japanese carriers with theirs angled decks and the modern USN CG moored alongside the old ironsides...
