I have such a wonderful since she fuels my addiction to military books.
This Christmas she got me Yefim Gordon's recent hardback book "MiG-21"
This book is a full 720 pages of every technical piece of information you want to
know of the MiG-21 & the Chinese copy the J-7.

So if your looking a book about one of the most important military aircraft ever
constructed this book is must. If you are looking a book detailing military history
you'll not find it here. Yefim has an extensive section about the combat history of the
MiG-21, but admits that it doesn't come never covering all of its history. It is most
a technical book cover development of every type and model of the aircraft.

Again if your a fan of aircraft especially Russian ones I would get this book.

A friend lent me Red Eagles: America's Secret MiGs by Steve Davies Just got done reading it. Very interesting and enjoyable tale of America’s experience with the FSU’s aircraft with emphasis on the MiG-21. Very well liked by the gents who got to fly her. The MiG-23? Not so much…

I'm going to show my age by saying I'm nostalgic for an Phantom...

Actually age shouldn't really come into it. I'm nostalgic about a lot of things that were there long before I was born, for example Spitfires and Hurricanes, battleships - yes, Bismarck! and also railway steam locomotives........

Yeah, well... I was at sea when the F-4 was still being deployed at sea. That's been a while! I even remember when the Blue Angels was flying them... yikes...

Nothing wrong with being nostalgic about a Phantom, it is a great aircraft.

I definately like the dawn of the jet age with the F-80,84,86,100,102,104, the MiG 15,17,19,21, & Sukhoi Su 7,11 in their all metal finishes

You just don't see aircraft like that anymore.

I think the F-16 is very similar to those aircraft; just better in every way.

I wouldn't consider it part of "silver bullet series" of fighters, but its is a true rocket ship just like the F-104.

A great fighter in its own right, the French didn't retire theirs until about 10 years ago.
