In 2000 i had have the opportunity to visit Barcelona for a Carlos Castaneda Seminar.
Fortunately in Barcelona's port were 5 german Warships an 1 Supporter.
I ask the current officer of Emden V about the possebility to visit the ship.
i showed my passport. A subofficer showed me the whole ship, except Waffenleitstand. He was proud of his ship and said: Every member of the crew is proud not to live so comfortable as on Braunschweig, but to serve on the better frigat.
I met the Bootsmann: he sold me own produced book about the history of all Emden ships for (at that time) 10 Deutschmarks.
I learned that Emden V is the only ship of Bundesmarine which is allowed to wear the
Iron Cross,
indeed.
Its to see below the Bridgewindow and on the coverage (Mündungsabdeckung) of the shipscanon.
Unfortunately the book is somewhere in my cases.
But if sombody has interest, i think its enough to send such a demand to the ship directly.
