H.A. Framburg of Chicago was one of the makers of teacher scale (1:500) and identification (1:1200) models for the USN. Other major manufacturers were Comet Metal Products and South Salem Studios; Bessarabis and van Ryper were also good model makers, but it is said that they could not meet the USN’s large demands in a timely fashion. This set of the Kriegsmarine and several models of Royal Navy ships are 1:500 in scale and are from my collection. (Other training and ID aids consisted of playing card decks with the ship's silhouette on one side and a photo and name of the ship on the other).

Framburg Catalogs – in the early post-WW2 years some models were sold in PX’s and elsewhere as mementos and toys.
