Argentine navy: ARA General San Martín

Post by smtigbuthistory »

Good day. I am need of info on the ship ARA General San Martín.
For a video that I am making about the Argentine base on Southern Thule (1955)
All the info on Wikipedia seems wrong.
Examples: the shipyard mentioned where it was built did not exist in that time frame And the official Argentine navy has photos dated 1940 but on the wiki it says it was commissioned in 1950.
So if anyone has some info on the ship, including sources that would be amazing. Thank you in advance.

Wikipaedia has some info on this ship.

Built at Bremerhaven, West Germany in 1954 by AG Weser, this vessel was the first purpose built icebreaker for the Argentine Navy and was in service until 1982.
