. I might assume that the speed might increase a few knots as technology or need increases... pesky Somalian pirates

The official classification from the article is ''frigate'' which the article suggests is being used as a politically correct substitute for destroyer, which is basically what they are.

The people at that site call things as they see them. They are right a good portion of the time but not always. Indeed the who ship classification issue these days depends a lot on how and why you define the classifications.

Also there are fewer types of classification.
