HMS Mashona

Post by W H Jones » Mon Nov 05, 2018 7:34 am

I am Rhodesian.
I met the Commander of HMS Mashona in Rhodesia in about 1962. Rear Admiral Selby.
I am trying to find an illustration of the ship's crest for Mashona.
I had the crest once but it was stolen. The Zimbabwe bird on a background of wavy blue and white lines.

What I would like to confirm is the motto. I remember it as 'Chisarayi' - in brief - 'Farewell'.
Is this correct?

Here's the crest:

Tribal Class Destroyers (source of the above) states that the motto was indeed 'Chisarayi' but states it translated as "stay in peace".
