I would. I think Scharnhorst might be better equipped to fight three counties than Iowa would be.

Faster firing guns. There isn't much difference between the shells as far as a cruiser is concerned if using AP. I suppose if the Iowa class ship had HC it might make a difference since a county isn't really protected well against 16" HC. Near misses might be very damaging.

... that's true...
But Iowa would always have the "one shot- one kill" possibility.. a 16" AP round, with some luck, would detonate inside the cruiser, and possibly destroy or incapacitate the entire ship. It would be much harder to do the same thing with a single 11" shell...
