I agree with your points. And in addition, the Carriers needed a really huge supply chain, beginning with oil for their own machines and for the planes plus ammo, spares and replacement planes plus crews. The carriers were a very short legged weapon system with all limitations already mentioned. If the Pacific would have been similar to the Atlantik, it might be possible that the carriers would not have been the clear winner of WW2. After WW2 nobody really challenged the US Navy in combat. So nobody knows if the Russian plans would have worked or not.
Nevertheless the the large gun BB found a new role in NGS, the effectiveness learned the IJA, the Red Army in the Baltics, the North Korean Army and the Vietcong. It proved so effective that even today Marines are asking for the BB`s
