You can't really compare the Dardenelles to a 1945 situation - air power and carriers add a completely new dimension. And in 1915 the Turks had time to prepare, the Allied landings which still achieved some measure of surprise, were not immediately followed through. There is no substitute to decisive and quick acting commanders.
