A modern naval conflict scenario?

Historical what if discussions, hypothetical operations, battleship vs. battleship engagements, design your own warship, etc.

A modern naval conflict scenario?

Post by Karl Heidenreich »

Hey guys: how do you visualize a modern naval conflict scenario? Where? Fight by whom against who? Why it would it begin and who is likely to win?

I have mine: Spratley Islands: China vs. Vietnam, Philipines and Japan. Eventually USN intervenes.

Best regards.

How about a Chinese invasion of Taiwan? US forces would quickly be involved - there is a presidential election looming....

Bit of a worry really.

Up and coming superpower (china) and world economic turmoil.

Anyone remember the 30s?

I actually wonder how far the two countries would take a Chinese take on Taiwan. It would be a scary time for all of us I would think. Kind of like the Cuban missile crisis was for my parents. The human race just doesnt seem to be able to go to long without a major conflict. If the chinese could get in and take Taiwan quickly I think the Americans would have to back down.

I agree with that. The US lacks now of the will to commint itself into global problem with the only country that could kept her out of bankrupcy.

Well there was a small skirmish between North and South Korean gun boats (2 countries that have never been very good neighbours) about 9 years ago.

A North Korean Gunboat was sunk in the action

There've been actions in the Med and Persian gulf in the recent pass and the possibility for repeats. Of course there are the Pirates in the Red Sea area. The Indian Ocean could become problematic with several nuclear powers playing.

But no serious and strategic determined actions, aside the Falklands/Malvinas war.
