Initially I would agree, but the Afghan government and army is corrupt and the Taliban can make themselves the hereos to the local population. As in Vietnam the US is left providing military support for weak and increasingly discredited regimes, so we now have an almost unwinnable war in Afghanistan - after initially being in a winning position.

I disagree. Part of the problem is like Iraq it is probably a mistake to view this as a single "war". The first war was vs the Taliban rulers and it was won when the Taliban were removed from power. The second phase began when they tried to make a come back. This also was pretty much defeated until they started allying with the drug lords. The latter are now the real problem. The Taliban are hardly considered hero's anywhere. It may well be that when we are done the Afhan goverment is corrupt (although I've read that the army isn't very corrupt, the national police force are a bit more, and the locals incredibly corrupt). That would be unfortunate and a problem but more a local one. The drug lords represent a problem to many governments to the extent that there is even some cooperation between NATO and Iran in operations against them. Since the drug lords and to an increasingly greater extent the Taliban are in it for the money the thought that higher they get the more likely they are to inherit a Hellfire is having an effect. Likewise in the rank and file the allure of the cash has to be balanced with the chance of survival.

... It's not "just a group". It's a culture and they are using our western laws to attack us. If, by any act of God, the Us get's Bin Laden nothing is goimng to change, violence will not stop. I foresee we will come to Hamburg, Tokio and Hiroshima again. You don't... not a problem, wait and see.

The problem is your approach won't work.

What you are left with is a halfway house position - the only answer to radical Islam in the West seemingly being the pursuit of the policies of the British National Party and expelling the non-Caucasian populations, reversing decades of immigration. This is in itself the recipe for such conflict that civil war would result.

I disagree. Integrating them into the society in a meaningful way is a much better approach. When they and their families have a vested interest in the survival of our society the chance of them going radical is much less and the odds of them helping in case of someone else going radical is greater.

I think it is an Arab/Palestinian problem in that while these Arab states recognise the need for these Palestinian people to live a decent life somewhere, they view it as living only on the original Israeli territory of 1948 and not in their own conntries.

Shades of Carterisation I see, arising from this article, rather here it is big business that is suffering rather than just foreign policy. The bullying of Tony Hayward of BP was no doubt part of this process.

Well, liberals want to their political correct gospel enforced in the whole world, which in that case they resembled Hitler's ambitions. However the comparison goes or refers to their national economic policies, which we have been talking about for the last weeks: liberalism is a sort of fascism (maybe a facism without guts as socialism is comunism for sissies) after all.
And we have that Osama (excuse me, Obama), as an islamic supporter and mosque builder, probably do not like jewish people and the State of Israel neither.

Maybe. But political correctness comes from cultural marxism and thought control, whereas the fascist concept of controlling thought is to physically smash anything that doesn't agree with them.
At least with the modern concept of ''liberalism'' there is still some degree of independent thought allowed, so alternatives can be expressed, unlike under a totalitarian government.

And the strategy proposed is the marginalisation of the extreme elements from within the context of the Muslim faith. This is nothing new, it is a rehash of the Tony Blair approach, adopted by Gordon Brown and then David Cameron in Britain, and by Obama in the US. Incidently I wouldn't pick on Obama especially, McCain would have followed the same policy as well, along with Palin.
