Hello everybody,

because the photos has been taken from the Prinz Eugen and we do have the Prinz Eugen original official map/track, ... it is not difficult, ... with a minimum knowledge of the Prinz Eugen and her track, ... to associate the PG film and the existing original photos to her track and realize the timing when the photo was taken, ... with a very limited time tolerance ( map is on large scale and timed every minute/60 seconds ).

Having many more photos at hand, ... compared to the general availability, ... makes the job more easy and accurate.

It is just doing again the work that the Baron B. von Mullenheim-Rechberg and P. Schmalenbach did with Prof. J. Rohwer when they realized the Bismarck track for the battle map based on the photos and the film taken in the proper sequence ( map original caption ) , ... having the Prinz Eugen official map and track ( done on 1941 ) finally available.

.

Is anything new being added to the debate, or are people just re-hashing things already done to death ?

Three people (maybe more) seem to think the map is "determinate"

About a dozen (maybe more) seem to think that the map is "indeterminate", and cannot be made "determinate".

And an unknown number of board members are just keeping quiet ( or are bored and ignore the thread ).

Hello everybody,

still taking about the 6th and last warship track of this Denmark Strait battle, ... the only one not known and available on the official historical maps, ... so the Bismarck one, ... we have gone thru the beginning of the battle following the documents stating that Bismarck followed the Prinz Eugen in line of battle, .... until the torpedo warning and the turn to starboard mentioned on the German documents, ... and showed on the Prinz Eugen film, ... and we arrived at 06:05 and 30 seconds ( photo Nh 69727 ) ... reconstructing the Bismarck track.

Here we are now with the last part of the Bismarck track after the beginning of her second turn and the last photo and track analysis.

On 2005 I have chosen the 220° course until 06:09, ... but I remember well that even on the Hood forum many years ago, ... someone had a different opinion about the way to read some photos ( especially the flash effect photo NH 69730 ) and consequently the Bismarck course on that moment, ... just few second before she was going to cross back the Prinz Eugen wake.

Everybody can now express his own opinion about the photos Nh 69729

... and 69730

... and the last salvo too ... available on the Bundesarchiv with ref number : Bild 146-1984-055-13.

Of course like before, ... the Bismarck main gun turrets rotation toward the target, ... so the PoW, ... are crucial to determine her course as best as we can.

Opinions are welcome.
