Forward observer marks VT shell explosions. When they are on the money the conventional shells follow. (One poss. method.)

Gun crews don't get enough exercise with live ammo and "clear through the barrel" practice. Sorry, I don´t understand your post. This is supposed to be a real shore bombardment. I have no doubt about that. But what I meant was the crews were honing their skills while supporting the ground...
