The "cool" part is that every effort to review history helps make sure that the people who died in the dirty and nasty businness is remembered, they should not be forgotten.

"Powerfull" should be a combination of:

Number of guns

Thanks again. What happened if some watertight compartments were flooded, the ship settled low in the sea, and water managed to enter ABOVE the watertight deck? I mean, wouldn´t the free surface effect of this water endanger the stablity?

Watertight bulkheads and decks

I have just finished reading the book "Titanic ships, titanic disasters", by Mr. Garzke, an excellent technical account and discussion about the sinking of Titanic, Britannic and Lusitania. Excellent in every way, I strongly recomend it to anyone interested in maritime history. Anyway, rea...

I have never heard of supercharges used to test fire a gun. Bear in mind that the chamber volume is designed for a maximum charge, and there would be no way of putting three times the propellant charge in it. Nor would it be possible to introduce the shell further down the barrel to "enlarge&qu...

I don´t think a landing was possible, but if the Grand Fleet was sunk the UK may be blockaded herself.

Didn´t the US official tank tactic requiere 5 Shermans to defeat a single Tiger? I remember reading it somewhere.

The Sherman was powered by a radial aircraft engine. That was tempting fate. And its suspension was obsolete compared to the T-34. The only reason for its success was that it was cheap and available in big numbers. Tiger was on a different category: it was a heavy tank. It was suicidal to fight one ...
