Yes, I was struck by the similarity to the Hood - but then I had read that the USN was influenced by the Admiral -class battlecruiser. Apparently they (the USN) had been shown plans of these ships during WW1. The planned follow on to the Derfflinger -class was the Mackensen and then the Ersatz Yorck...

Does anybody have more details on the Lexingtons? Particularly the armour protection scheme? Here is a page from the Naval Historical Center with some more info on the Lexington -class Battlecruisers: http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/usnshtp/bb/cc1.htm Here's a 1/700 model of what the ships would...

Really nice work, Steve. I was thinking of planking the deck of Bismark, when and if I get around to finishing mine. This looks like it might be a better solution, especially in conjunction with the WEM PE decks (which I have).

Keep the pictures coming - very inspiring work!

Status of KGV's Walrus on May 27, 1941

Before delving into any new modeling projects, I'm trying to finish some things that have been laying around unfinished. That being said, I'm thinking of trying to finish my Airfix 1/600 KGV (below), which I'm building as of May 27, 1941. The construction of the Airfix kit parts is mostly done, &quo...

Antonio, Very nice. I especially like those camouflage schemes for the rebuilt "1946 Gneisenau". Gneisenau doesn't seem to get much attention as compared to her more famous sibling, so this is nice to see. Question: I'm about to start work on my 1/700 Tamiya Gneisenau. I'm building her as ...

Prinz Eugen 1945

I am planning on building the Tamiya 1/700 Prinz Eugen, and wanted to build the model as of 1945 in the Baltic. Anyone know where I could find information on Prinz Eugen's AA fit in 1945?

Thanks,

Martin

Re: Thinning Acrylic Paints

Gleason, Yes, you can airbrush it, but yes - you should thin it first. I've been using Polly-S (polly-scale's) Acrylic Airbrush Thinner for this. For MM acrylics, I've found that a 70% paint to 30% thinner ratio seems to work for me, but you should experiment a bit to see what works for you. HTH
