Re: Hms Renown model?

White Ensign Models makes a superb 1/700 resin model of the HMS Renown, circa 1942. Shouldn't be too difficult to convert it into a 1944/1945 version.

I believe HP Models also has a Renown and Niko Models has announced their own Renown (both of these are 1/700 scale).

MJQ: Honestly, the Intrepid isn't the museum she used to be. She used to have a focus on her rich past, with displays of aircraft and models, but no more. I was on her last year with my son, and was sort of dispirited by what I saw. Our local NJ hobby club used to build models for displays there, b...

Very bad news for me. I was hoping to be in NY for summer 2008. Now I´ll have to wait until INTREPID is open, because my idea was to go there and make the trip to Camden, NJ, to visit the USS New Jersey. Honestly, the Intrepid isn't the museum she used to be. She used to have a focus on her rich pa...

According to the Intrepid's Website, she won't reopen until the fall of 2008.

You may want to ask this question over on the J-Aircraft.com Japanese Ships & Navy Message Board. In the last few months, someone had posted some nice CG work ups of the Nagato's bridge.

For further reading, I suggest "Son of the Morning Star", which was also made into a made for TV movie with Gary Cole playing Custer. Excellent book, pretty good movie.

Re: Battlestar Galactica as a Space Aircraft Carrier

Hey, Have you seen the new BSG series on TNT? Not only it is a lot better than the 1979-80ies BSG (remember Lorne Greene and Dirk Bennedict?) but the producers made some serioues effort in giving this space opera some realism. The Battlestar Galactica IS an Aircraft Carrier with Air Wing, Combat Ai...

Re: Seydlitz or Derfflinger

Hi guys. When HMS Queen Mary blew up and sank under the fire of Seydlitz and Derfflinger - which ship was actually credited with the sinking? Seydlitz or Derfflinger? I always thought that Derfflinger fired the fatal shot but some sources give credit to both ships? According to the World War I Nava...

In plastic all there is the old Hasegawa 1/450 Vanguard kit, which isn't very good.

Don't think this is one you'll ever see in plastic in 1/350 scale.

There is a 700th kit but I've heard mixed reviews on it.

Re: Prinz Eugen during Op. Zauberflote

Ciao Martin and all, YES, your guess is right, early May 1942 just before Operation Zauberflote ( 16 till 18 May 1942 from Trondheim to Kiel ). You should have noticed the repair ship Huascaran just behind the Prinz Eugen... still there after a good job done on the ' dummy ' rudders and the stern t...

Excellent photo Antonio. I'm going to guess that the pictures was taken in May 1942, in Norway, just before Prinz Eugen returned to Germany.

Would love to see a picture of the camo pattern on the other side...
