To call to a Bismarck Followers Reunion?

Is it possible for this site to call and/or organize a Bismarck Followers Reunion? Maybe some members and Bismarck friends, authors, survivors, etc. can met in some city next year and have several days exchanging opinions, lecturing, buying merchandise, studying, exposing theories, etc. In this way ...

Hood´s color for a model?

I just ordered the 1:350 Trumpeteer Hood at the local hobbyshop and it will last at least a month to come, but, meanwhile, I was wondering if there is a site with the color diagrams of the Hood on May 24th.
Thanks.

French Navy on WWI and WWII

What was the overall performance of the French Navy at WWI and WWII? As far as I understand at WWII all her ships were interned, captured, sunk and her role was nil in favour of Vichy or against the Germans. With the disaster of Trafalgar on her record that brings a very unfavourable history (rememb...

River Plate: were the British outgunned?

Now that the Graf Spee is again the talk of the town I think that it´s good to talk about her sad history (aparently all tales of German ships are sad). If you search at the internet or in history books all of them agree that Graf Spee clearly outgunned the British cruisers that opposed her. The Exe...

Agreed. Two things: 1. Thanks for clearing that information  , it´s obvious that the layers of armour one over the other bring more defense than the nominal. That´s the problem when you just see numbers by themselves. Where did you get the info, anyway? I´ll like to have a look. 2. The real su...

There is another data that supports the idea of the reclassification of Hood as a Fast Battleship instead of Battlecruiser: Armour comparison with other British Warships: Hood Main Belt: 305 mm Upper Deck: 32 mm Armoured Deck: 50 mm Turrets: 130-380 mm Protected lenght: 65% Speed: 31 knots KGV Class...

Hood: Battlecruiser or Fast Battleship?

I´ve been studying the comparison of the macro characteristics of the Capital Ships in service at 1941; in special the Hood because I wonder why she is classified as a Battlecruiser and not as a (Fast) Battleship. In order I will resume my thoughts: I. Main Armament. Bismarck: 15" Hood: 15"...

I believe "Magic" was the name for the decoding operation. The codes were given color names like "purple" which was the diplomatic codes.

Yeah, those mighty ships give a sense of security that it´s not so. They have the tendency to blow sky high. :x If I have to choose I will be an infantry soldier anytime. But, returning to the main topic: as far as we are concrened no great American BB was tested in a one against one classic surface...

Well, Andrea Doria isn´t that dark: we owe him not being muslims today. But the others are a bit obscure. True that names like Tirpitz, Bismarck, Carl Vinson, Hans Lody, John Stennis, etc. are not ideal. I wonder if in 100 years time people will know who was some Ronald Reagan whose name was ...
