That is ridiculous.Matrose71 wrote:I imply that 20-30 A4's (V2) with 1000kg Sarin or Tabun warheads, which would explode 100m-200m above a city, would have near the same effect from dead people as an atomic bomb fom 1945. The destruction would be very much less, the effect to people near the same.

Re: What if no Normandy landings at all
The A4 is the V2! A4 is Aggregat-4 = V2 And I have written, what perhaps would happen after a fictional atomic bomb drop at germany! Toxic warheads were produced in Nazi Germany from primary sources, but after the experiences at WWI and especially Hitler's own experiences (he was blind for several ...

Re: The Plot
Incidentally Duncan, Byron and Steve Crandell, can I ask if you read the Plot as I do? PoW with Hood seen on the curved track positioned relative to Norfolk and the radioed position plotted seperately for comparison, for "enemy in sight", another during PoWs withdrawal, and near Bismarck ...

Re: The Plot
I can understand that reasoning, but you didn't say that. Your statement was all inclusive. .... Went back and re-read my original post. You're right. Not as contextually qualified as I would have liked. Sorry 'bout that. B NP and I could have been more polite by saying something like "you mea...

Re: The Plot
I can think of no battle in which 8in guns fired with any real effect upon the target. Wow, that's quite a statement. First battle of Guadalcanal. Portland and San Francisco vs Hiei. Devonshire vs Atlantis. Wichita and Tuscaloosa vs various French ships at Casablanca. San Francisco and Salt Lake Ci...

Re: June 1944 battleship encounter
Finally in 1944 in answer to a Japanese request (completely unrealistic) both battleships leave the Norwegian fjords and head to the Pacific. They avoid detection and arrive in Japan (about as realistic as them cruising to the moon. ). The Japanese manufacture the shells for their 38cm guns....

Re: The Plot
Antonio, thanks for being so patient and not getting angry about what you probably consider to be posts that aren't valid points of view. Having said that and repeating myself, I think the British cruisers would have opened fire if they thought there was any reasonable chance of hitting Bismarck. I ...

Re: The Plot
Please explain how Norfolk or Suffolk are going launch a torpedo attack on a target ahead of them that is going away at 30 knots. Also how they are going to close to 20,000 yds or so to use their guns, given that same situation with respect to the German's speed and that they are going away most of ...

Re: The Plot
Is it possible that in the few weeks after the Bismarck episode the serving officers did not all have access to the same information we have today? Is it also possible that they were somewhat busy with other things (I believe there was a war going on) and unable to spend literally years working on r...

Re: A desicive battle WW2
An interesting senario, perhaps the three heavy ships would co -ordinate their attack with the three carriers with the two battleships and one battlecruiser attacking in line on one side while the aircraft from the carriers attack with torpedoes from the other side and the cruisers and destroyers w...

Re: Skipwith's view of Prince of Wales
Thank you for posting that, Paul. It's always nice to get different views of something like that. I would remark that he was an officer. Their lot is quite different from that of the rest of the crew, and we have a recording of an experienced seaman who differed somewhat in his opinion. With respect...
