Alf R. Jacobsen
Hello... My apologies if you're aware of this, Jose, but I could not find these books amongst your selection of naval books. I was browsing through a norwegian booksite when I came across a book upon the Scharnhorst written by Alf R. Jacobsen. This book is available in english so I'll just copy the ...

I agree, RF. :D This might be a little digression of your topic but... Chamberlains reluctance to take actions undeniably raise a spooky conclusion. He seems to have been a politican dedicated to diplomacy in order to maintain peace but I guess that he unfortunately also lost his judgement by doing ...

Terje: I can only conclude that Hitler was a very good politican while Chamberlain was a very naive one :stubborn: I will not rate Hitler as a good politician but as a cunning one, like a fox. The other thing were his surroundings. He was lucky to have Chamberlain instead of Churchill. Churchill wo...

Hello... First, I didn't consider the hypothesis to include the entire war machinery to begin with, only a larger KM, hence my first reply regarding the Luftwaffe... As for the hypothesis, hopefully I'm not naive when asking this, would GB and US let the nazi pre-war armament progress to such a degr...

No, it exists. It's a magneto hydrodynamics drive without any moving parts, actually built into a test vessel called Yamato. About 95% engine, 5% ship, speed 7 knots. Wiki even has an article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetohydrodynamic_drive Just to bring the topic back on track after my littl...

I assume that the intelligence report from the naval attache in Stockholm was based upon the report from the Gotland. That makes a lot of sense since the cruiser was a swedish one... But why on earth would Viggo Axelsen report his sighting through the naval attache in Stockholm instead of directly t...

I don't think it would change anything as the Norwegian resistance also reported the presence of Bismarck plus a heavy cruiser as they arrived in Norwegian waters. See the account given in Ludovic Kennedys' book. I assume, just to put a name on him, you're reffering to the photo taken by Viggo Axel...

Hello... I agree with Miro on this one :D The ship was, as far as I can recall, scrapped shortly after she capsized thus never getting the status that for instance the California got at Pearl (I think it's the California) But then she was not completely sunk if you know what I mean. I guess they cou...
