Re: Distance from armor deck to top edge of the barbettes.
There were conical barbettes also on Derfflinger. I have the dim feeling it might have to do with the supporting structures/bulkheads below the armor deck and/or transformation of the gun-support „cylinder“ from an octagonal shape to a circle.

Re: Distance from armor deck to top edge of the barbettes.
Gally's drawing is copied from the lines drawing plan. A lines drawing is always without plating. My calculation is the distance between the upper edge of the Panzerdeck and the lower edge of the Oberdeck: Lower edge Panzerdeck + armor thickness = upper edge Panzerdeck -> Lower edge Oberdeck - upper...

Re: Distance from armor deck to top edge of the barbettes.
Hello Mr. Rico, thanks. Did the 'Panzerdeck' level had a sheer outside ord. 32 and 202.7? I think yes (obviously less accentualted even than Batteriedeck). hans No, the "Panzerdeck" (10.5-202.7) has no sheer, but the "Zwischendeck" has a sheer between 202.7 and stem. Hello Mr. N...

Re: Distance from armor deck to top edge of the barbettes.
The lower edge of the Panzerdeck is at 10300 above keel. There is no sheer.

Re: Distance from armor deck to top edge of the barbettes.
In regard of the barbettes:
6390 mm is the nominal value with a tolerance of +-20 mm.
In regard of the distances:
The level of the upper deck is the same for Anton and Dora (15850 mm above keel).

Re: Bismarck radar detector
Hello Mr. Nilsson, thanks, imho Brennecke input is a most valuable one. Would you mind to post his wording to demonstrate that the Baron 'copied' ? From whom did Hepke 'copy' ? Everything (various sources, messages, logic, etc.) point to BS being equipped with a passive detector (available at the t...

Re: Bismarck radar detector
I do not have Trenkle's book, but he lists Hepke's study as a source of his work: I would be surprised if he denies a passive radar on BS. In regard of Trenkle's "Die deutschen Funkstörverfahren bis 1945" (including jamming and radar detection) "personal communication" [between ...
