It´s not fair to say that Bismarck was a mis-hitter. :x Ship by ship she had many good chances to overwhelm her adversaries. The reasons for her "poor" performance at her last battle are obvious: 1. The hits from PoW at Denmarck Straits. By themselves not a great deal at the time. 2 The sw...

New Poseidon Movie

This year cinema´s remake of (course) of the "Poseidon Adventure"! In 1972 it was the movie that make me love ships. After a while I discover that warships were a lot more fun than passenger liners, being the Titanic, the Doria and the fiction Poseidon the exceptions. Let´s hope it´s...

When thru I´ll post my opinion.

Victor´s classification doesn´t conflict with the previous one. The only thing I feel mising is one classification that I don´t believe is an "outlaw" or a supercruiser: the Fast Battleship. As a matter of fact the Iowa class is often considered a Fast Battleship. In this case we can defin...

So, Until May 21st the Bismarck had the swastikas inside the RED stripes. OK? After that date they were completly covered with GRAY paint. OK? The same happened with the black and white stripes of the hull´s camouflage and the waves? On the same date? In this case Mr. Cameron´s documentary`s 3D Bism...

For what it seems it will be great!
It seems to me that Japan is revisiting it´s history without remorse, which is better because they don´t have to be with apologies every three scenes.
When is due to hit the theatres.
Is there a translation web site?

That means they painted the red stripes grey or that they painted all, swastika included, grey?

I agree with Marcelo´s view because it is very schematic. The first way to classify these vessels is using the official designation. After that we can simply extract those warships that doesn´t fit in any "conventional" classification. But, as a matter of fact, we have to divide all the cl...

The soviets got a lot of intelligence that not even now we know where it came from. There has been a lot of speculation of far more important issues, like the timetable of the Citadel Operation in 1943, that, apparently, the Russians had in their own hands before the Germans open the offensi...

Bismarck´s bow and aft stripes

I always understood that the swastika that Bismarck had both at bow and aft was inside a white circle and surrounded by a RED STRIPE. After watching some models and Cameron´s documentary it appear that the crew painted it GREY or was covered.
What really happended with this stripe?

About Jutland: a book?

Which is the best book about Jutland. Not only it´s text but the maps of the actions.
The book "Jutland: An Analysis of the Fightinig" seems to be unreacheable either at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. But as a matter of fact I read somewhere it lacks of diagrams and maps.
