Re: German Destroyers WWII by Whitley
I am going by memory, but I believe the second edition has more pictures and drawings than the first. I know at the time I received the second edition, I was very happy.

Re: German Destroyers WWII by Whitley
I have both books
The second edition book is 223 pages ISBN 1-55750-302-8. It is 25 cm x 25cm which is the same size as some of his other books. The first one, which I have packed away in a box some where is your normal book size.

Re: Scharnhorst ammo hoists for 105mm's.
Marcelo That last picture you posted is of Gneisenau. rtwpsom, the photo you have of the 10.5 amo hoist I have several books that list that picture from the Prinz Eugen. The amo hoist for the midship 15cm guns and 10.5cm guns was not a direct lift. The magazine for the midship 10.5cm amo was in comp...

The rectangles are fresh air intakes for the boiler rooms. The circles I am guessing are the various exhaust uptakes from diesel generators galley stoves and such. These run to the top of the funnel ring.

Re: Musashi Wreck Found?
If anyone has not seen what can happen to a capsizing warship, have a look at this. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7009975008653689943 When the Barham first explodes a rather large chunk goes flying off to the right. Watch the video and stop it from time to time. It is amazing that anyone s...

Re: Photo Quiz #13
Okay here goes with a guess S.S. Meteor or the S.S. Bay State. When looking at the bridge, my guess is the S.S. Bay State Nineteen whaleback steamers, one passenger vessel, and 23 consorts were built by McDougall between 1889 and 1898. Check this out http://books.google.ca/books?id=snP9T7QYs1oC&...

Re: Bismarck Beached, High and Very Dry
I believe that is the LLS-1 or Land Locked Ship 1 or USS Desert Ship. Not much info on it, and only a few pictures. Pretty neat though.

Re: Admiral Graf Spee Salvage
The Graf Spee would be no more difficult to raise than the USS Maine was. Build a coffer dam around the ship and pump out the water. Having said that, there is no one that would do it in this current global economy. There would have to be some sort of payback before anyone would even touch that sort...

I'll give it a try. The first picture shows a station with round handrails. I believe this is the after HA rangefinder station. The boxes by it are the ready use amo lockers for the 2cm guns. The second picture looks like some deck grating that allowed access to the boats above the aircraft hanger, ...
