Re: Japanese 5"/50 vs 3.9"/65

Yeah Byron, the 3.9"/65 could truly compete with the US 5"/38 as far as the best DP weapon for AA purposes. It just had somewhat smaller shells, no VT fuse and Japanese fire control :D A good weapon, just limited by other issues. ..... I don't recall making a comparison with the 5in/38 :l...

Re: Japanese 5"/50 vs 3.9"/65

Dunmunro has it right, IMO. The 3.9in was Japan's first true DP weapon.

According to Campbell -
Max mount elevation 90deg; elevation @ 16deg/sec; train @ 12-16deg/sec; RoF 15-21 rpmpg.
MV 3314 ft/sec; with a fixed round 44in in length. Wow.

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

GaryT wrote - Re Cloward-Pivens "Well, you can find some wackos anywhere, but I would not consider this philosphy any type of a movement nor a party goal." Wackos? LOL. That is an easy way to shunt aside an inconvenient issue instead of looking too closely at their scheme in comparison to ...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

GaryT - Do you seriously propose to debate the politics of our time based upon a comparative numerical count of executive orders? LOL. Does it not strike you that the natures of the executive orders are of immensely greater import than the simple numbers thereof? We could have a more useful discussi...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

The great socialist mantra - "From each according to his abilities. To each according to his needs." Who decides what your needs are? Do your desires and ambitions have any standing in such a worldview? Would you contribute to the best of your ability if you felt that you were not being fa...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

..... David Saxton put it well - "I don't even know where to start". I've read Marx, Lenin, Gramsci, Alinsky. I've even held my nose and read Chomsky and Zinn. Have you ever read Plato's Republic, or the Federalist Papers, or Gibbons' Decline and Fall, or anything by Hayek or Von Mises, or...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

..... Bill Maher is a media "personality". He is certainly entitled to his opinions, but he is hardly to be considered a qualified (or unbiased) observer of American history, economic or otherwise. His glib and shallow commentary is proof of that. It is also proof that it is not easy separ...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Good luck on your love affair with American socialism, Gary. I sense that you are a true believer. As for me, I am not sanguine about the prospects that lay in that political direction.

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

..... Follow the money indeed. But make sure that you hold responsible the people who are actually in control. It is Congress that controls the purse and sets tax rates, not the president. The Democrats held a veto-proof majority in the House of Representatives (where the control of the budget rests...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Pretty much agree with FK. The current leadership of the Republican Party is totally out of touch with the current dire social, political, diplomatic and economic situation in this country. They are either too interested in maintaining their present privileges at the Federal money trough to do anyth...
