I agree with both of them. An hour early warning would have put a lot of fighters in the air. From a documentary I understand that is not the case. The fueling and preparing would not put that many into the air. Also, Japanese naval aviaters were quite good pilots. Perhaps a few more US kills, but ...

Hmm, it took much more time to arm and fuel enough planes to offer any resistance. Also, I doubt that the few ships that COULD have escaped to open sea would be as easy to refloat as the ones on the bottom of the harbor. I suppose casualties would be much worse if some ships would have put out to sea.

And what direction your sailing in too... GRT is a complicated and bureaucratic term, negatively affected safety. To reduce the GRT measurement, freeboard is often dangerously low leading to unfortunate stability issues.

I haven't had the opportunity to inspect the kit in person, but from the pics it looks like it's quite good. Certainly etter than their early Bis and Yamato kits. The recessed decklines are a good start and they added a lot of styrene hatches. The 15" turrets are a bit ugly, but I have first ha...

Well, you could be right depending on your definition for ton. Normally a weight, but it can be a volume tonnage as well! (tunnage).

for a 50000 t ship the difference between the east Baltic and the Atlanic could be as much as 1000 t of displacement. Right? Wrong, displacement is the same  but the volume differs. Note that the light displacement is a definition. It may or may not include fuel, foeul in the pipes, food, ammo...

Well, they're supposed to be on a striaght line and they're not, meaning the build quality is low.

You just end up adapting the formula until it gives you a result you more or less accepted, so you're just as well off without it. With only 10 ships, you can put them in any order you want.

There's a model in 1.350 by Iron Shipwright and I thinks it looks awful. Just look at the portholes, all over the place. But, a good introduction to resin modeling.

Perhaps Rodney & Nelson are best reclassified as fast monitors  But, I rather like the French BB's. You can see how much History has influenced people to these endless debates. Richlieu is rarely mentioned. About the equation: guns x shell weight x muzzle velocity x ship speed Sooo, where'...

Hmmm, I always thought the Richelieu were an excellent match for the Bismarcks. I think the double 15"quad layout offers many advantanges (and disadvantages). Armouring certainly looks more solid that Bismarck.

If you thought about an engagement like the one at Denmarck Straits with ships at high speed, manouvering, bad weather and eight 15" shells being fired broadside the chances the CIWS to get them (and if it get SOME of them, doing some harm to them) are dramatically less. Note that a weapon wit...
