Re: Hits on PoW and Bismarck

Hi Byron, thanks for the translation of the whole passage (not easy/reliable to use google translator...). Based on it, the shell entered XXI compartment and the exit position is not specified. However, being both the compartments XXI and XX filled by water, it's evident that the shell severed the ...

Re: Hits on PoW and Bismarck

A quick translation of the passage excerpted from the Brenneker book follows - Bismarck hat drei Treffer erhalten, darunter zwei schwere. Bismarck received three hits, two heavy as per below. Treffer 1: Eine Granate ging an Backbordseite in das Vorschiff, Abteilung XXI, und durchschlug das Schiff, o...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

Anything is possible, Wadinga. It I recall correctly, the Japanese at the Battle of the Yellow Sea were surprised by the "close" fall of the opening Russian shots from about 15,000 yards. But the likelihood of Aylwin landing any shells "close" to either German ship would have bee...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

While it is clear that no hit can be scored without the salvo having straddled the target, it is equally true that a straddle does not guarantee a hit. In plain words, a straddle does not automatically = a hit. To argue that any such direct equivalency exists between the two terms is false logic. Th...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

"The illusory truth effect (also known as the validity effect, truth effect or the reiteration effect) is the tendency to believe information to be correct after repeated exposure"

In other words, the Goebbels school of historiography.

Re: KGV and PoW GAR during Op. Rheinubung

Peter Hodges is yet another conniving conspirator spreading lies about the KGV Class 14in Mk III quadruple turret in order to keep Leach's and Tovey's ugly Denmark Strait secret. But the most outrageous event of all in this huge cover-up scandal has to have been the outfitting of Vanguard with those...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

Fiat justitia - After examining several iterations of the photo in question posted here, it is evident that the imagery is too indistinct to fix splash locations relative to horizon line with necessary confidence. Since the three small and distant shell splashes on the far right of the image must lo...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

Re photographic image NH 69731 Battle of the Denmark Strait, 24 May 1941 ..... The two shell splashes which appear on the right side of the image do not interrupt the horizon line. Therefore, from the observer/photographer's point of view, fall of shot arguably must have been either upon the horizon...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

Hi swpz, A sole British witness claimed to have seen a single initial pair of shells (presumed to have come from Bismarck, but perhaps Prinz Eugen?) splash down about 2,000 yards short of Hood. AVKS-700 does mention two-gun turret salvoes as an alternative method of establishing the initial ranging ...

Hello everybody, an ignorant insulting guy wrote: "You have not answered my questions." Yes I have. http://www.kbismarck.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5752&start=495#p79887 I have explained him why he has totally misunderstood my words (shells vs shots, possibly blinded by his ang...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

Hello everybody, Yes, I do. It's this persons who seems NOT to be able to read the PoW GAR that shows all salvos fired as "doubles"..... http://www.hmshood.org.uk/reference/official/adm234/234509encIVa.gif. Regarding Mr.Dunmunro reconstruction of salvo 17 and 18, he can ask him to teach h...

Re: Bismarck firing procedures at DS

However, according to the reconstruction of PoW salvos of Mr.Dunmunro's (who is not a conspirator, I guess), salvo 17 was a 3 shells salvo and salvo 18 a 4 shells salvo, none of them hitting, all of them evaluated as "short" by McMullen. Are you telling me that the spread of these salvos ...

Antonio,
If your "work" is ever actually published and put before the informed public, we'll see who is gobbling the Maalox then.

Re: KGV and PoW GAR during Op. Rheinubung

Byron, Have a cup of char. What started as a laudable effort on their part to dispassionately dissect Denm...

Re: KGV and PoW GAR during Op. Rheinubung

Alberto & Antonio - As much as it pains me to say this, your comical attempts to slather the lipstick on PoW's gunnery performance at Denmark Strait = total crap.

I have lost all respect for you both.
