Re: Bismarck-Tirpitz Joint Maneuver?
Lutjens wanted to wait till tirpitz was ready then both BS and TP would go out together. The shit storm in the admiralty would be worth watching, " confirm that Battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz have been spotted" Dudley Pound " shit shit SHIT"

Re: Your favourite Battleship
For me my favourite BB would be Vanguard , she was fast well armed and a monster compared to the older RN Battleships. They could have upgraded her as she aged like the iowas but what can you do.

Re: Withdrawing from Combat
Sometimes it,s better to retire your ship than push a bad position and get sunk. It totally depends on the situation, like Leach when he withdrew PoW against Bismarck. He was in a two vs one the hard way, with i think one turret damaged.

Re:
Can't answer all your questions. But it is my understanding that the Kirovs have been retired. They where great looking ships that packed a huge punch. But in the end they cost too much too keep active. It is my understanding that one of them(maybe Kirov)had a reactor accident and was put out of co...

They did have plans Project 1153 OREl (eagle). Which would be a 75-80 000 tonne aircraft carrier also armed with 24 anti ship missiles as well as steam catapults.

Re: Force Z
Can I point out Hermes was an older ship where as Indomitable was newer with a larger air group and had A lot more armour than Hermes. Plus Indomitable,s air group was larger than her sisters with 48 aircraft so she could and would have more chance of surviving than Hermes did.

Re: Force Z
The fulmars were very heavily armed with eight .303 machine guns nothing could stand up too that much weight of fire and they would have gone for the torpedo bombers. The Hurricanes would have dived on the bombers from high and caused havoc among them. Even the Swordfish would cause some confusion a...
