USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
Recently while I was on vacation in Florida, I took the opportunity to drive to Mobile, Alabama to visit the U.S.S. Alabama (BB-60). I have especially wanted to visit the ship since its sister was the U.S.S. Indiana. This is the first time I have ever visited a battleship let alone a naval vessel of...

This Is Just Outrageous
Every Christmas I get gift cards to Amazon or Barnes & Noble which I promptly spend on new books. I got another Barnes & Noble card this year so I was looking at book comparing prices on Amazon because sometimes B&N will rip you off. I was stunned when I found some of my books that are l...

Re: What will the SDSR (SDR) mean for the Royal Navy?
Selling would be the best choice, since storing military equipment can be very expensive if you ever plan on using it again. Hopefully the RAF will transfer what aircraft they don't sell to AMARG ("Boneyard") for long term storage. Cause if the government changes and there is an increase i...

Re: What will the SDSR (SDR) mean for the Royal Navy?
A Carrier with no planes = A Big Fat Easy Target! I was very surprised by the astonishingly early retirement of the Sentenal R1's. The RAF had only recently only received all of its aircraft. It it wasn't for the current deployments overseas it would have been retired right away. In conjunction with...

Re: Cruise ship in a storm
Heavy seas & rouge waves are things any ship has to worry about, even the big cruise ships.
Two passengers died when large rouge waves struck this cruise ship.

Re: Early Jet Fighter development
Logically it should have been fielded, given the increasing weight of bombing raids on Germany. .... I'm not so sure. If the engine has a factory specified overhaul period of only 30 hours and planes are experiancing numerous failures prior to that time is it really ready for fielding? Note that so...

Re: Early Jet Fighter development
Also it is important to remember one of the largest reasons for delays in the Me 262 program, was Hitlers insistence the aircraft be developed as a fighter-bomber rather than just a fighter over protests from Galland and many of others in the Luftwaffe.

Why does this news item get practically zero attention worldwide, yet the Deepwater Horizon rig disaster gets worldwide coverage along with vilification of the rigs part owner, British Petroleum? Why isn't the employer of these miners vilified by US politicians and made subject to Congressional Inq...

Karl I don't really know how you turned one comment from President Obama supporting the effort to possibly build that Islamic center into the fact that is his mosque, and thats he is drilling support up from Democrats across the nation for its construction. Remember the Constituational Right to the ...
