Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

You keep getting distracted by the trees............ Not at all. My point I have been trying to illustrate is that our economy/government has been through the past 100 years and still is a mixture of socialism and capitalism, with government control. The only question for most is how much socialism...

Allowable weight

As a rule of thumb, is a vessel capable of carrying an equal weight of weapons, but distributed differently? For example, if a vessel has a 5" single mount weighing in at 20 tons, could it mount a dual 3" weighing the same? Or even 2-3" sperate guns weighing 10 tons each? I'm sure the...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Well Dave, pretty much in line with what you are talking about - Lets look at the specifics on Liberal British welfare reforms of the early 20th century, which were part of the programs pushed by the Fabian Society you mention: The Liberal welfare reforms (1906–1914) were acts of social legislation ...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Employers and "evil corporations" pass on "externalities" costs to their employees and to their customers. They do not pay these costs from their own wealth. ultimately the average Joe pays. Yes they may pass these costs on. But they do not deduct it from the employees paycheck....

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Social Security is deducted from one's gross income up to 113,000 IRRC, as an insurance premium. It is not a redistribution from wealthy to poor. The wealthy pay the same amount as the poor up to a point and they don't pay on income above that level. If viewed as a tax, it is regressive because it ...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

likewise Workmen's Comp is an insurance deducted from the worker's pay check. Even the matching funds to be contributed by the employer really come from the worker, because if you really think that employers don't deduct these costs from amount they could pay their employers, then you are more naiv...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

I am really not sure what "evidence" RF is looking for. Actually RF, I am indeed curious. What do you define as evidence? What would qualify as such?

... I was hoping somenbody with more knowledge on the subject would answer,
Which is why I refrained from answering :D

I'm glad someone answered the post though.

I'd have to pretty much agree with you assessment though, Alecsandros.

Re: Bismarck Wreck Salvage

With respect to the last paragraph - that can be the case, but the Allied side I think is likely to take a fairer view on that than any of the three Axis countries. I think I would agree with that, IF you are saying that if Germany had won, the Axis powers would have been less fair in judgement. Wi...

I wrote: Dave, Let me ask you a question -Do you think we should have the following: 1) Workers Compensation 2) Overtime pay 3) Children's Work restrictions 4) Minimum wage at it's current level 5) Social Security I'm really interested here, I might give me a better idea of where you are coming from...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

''Global warming'' is now exposed as a complete falsehood. That's almost funny, TF. To take such a stand on a hotly contested topic is what I find humorous. That is it is hotly contested is in itself humorous to a point as well. Really RF, there is indeed news in the world besides Fox. What we do k...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

You can read your Horovitz and Marx and Plato and whatever, but these are books only, and as every ancient book, outdated very quickly compared to the constant development and change of society. I'm not saying that we should not learn from the past, but to see the world and different life styles an...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

I appreciate the information, Dave. After looking at it a bit though, I find it hard to take seriously in all honesty. It has it's list of leftists that it considers dangerous, and this includes Barbara Streisand and Bruce Springsteen. Here are some clips as to why this group has a problem with 2 of...

Re: Senator Ted Cruz for US President?

Are you on the side of liberty or on the side of tyranny? It is really no more complicated than that. Well, as one of the conservative authors you pointed out is against the Bil of Rights, I think it's a bit more complicated than that. :D What you are saying is a glittering generality. You have by ...
