Re: RMS Titanic´s anniversary

I disagree Robert, they have no way of knowing if they would hit or pass, in fact they almost avoided the iceberg, the stem didn't hit ice. They did their best.

Re: RMS Titanic´s anniversary

The witnesses testimonies that described the hull fracturing were dismissed as coming from no expert people. Those of the surviving crew describing the ship going down in one piece were kept.

Re: Falklands/Malvinas war naval scenario

why didn't Admiral Aneya try it? Well, Robert, I think that´s obvious, he didn´t consult me!!! Now, seriously: 1-I don´t know if the old destroyers had the 30 kt dash speed capability. they were almost 40 years old by then and I don´t know the state of boilers and turbines. 2-An operation of that k...

Falklands/Malvinas war naval scenario

As you may know, this month it is 26 years of the South Atlantic war. In the local forums have been a lot of activity around it, and I imagined this scenario: On May 21st an English force landed on the Falkland Sound. The sound is 10 nm wide and about 25 nm long in its northern part, separated from ...

Re: RMS Titanic´s anniversary

Hi Karl, good to see you too. As I remember, nobody actually saw the stern rupturing, the ship´s lights were already gone, and a few (crew mainly) said the ship went down in one piece. That was the prevailing idea prior to Ballard´s finding. Then after finding the ship broken and reassesing the evid...

Re: RMS Titanic´s anniversary

Hi guys: I want to add some comentaries as found in Garzke´s Titanic ships titanic disasters: -It is nonsense trying to hit the iceberg head-on. They had no way of knowing if the ship would avoid the iceberg or would strike it, so that if every time a ship is in a similar danger the crew would aim f...

I don´t agree with that. B-1 is far more advanced than B-52, even in its low cost version. I believe B-52 has no low level capability.

Dave, so I am right to believe that if the torpedo/bombers had been owned by the Kriegsmarine greater success would have been atained due to the simple fact that they wouldn´t have been sent to land theaters?

Do you have the exact figure (ships or tonage) sunk by the Luftwaffe?

Thanks Dave.

Do you know the tonage sunk by them?

Do you (or anyone) think that if the role had been asigned to the Kriegsmarine more resources and importance would have been allocated to the role?

Anybody knows which planes the Luftwaffe managed to use as torpedo planes? How many ships did they take with them?

Thanks in advance

The "cool" part is that every effort to review history helps make sure that the people who died in the dirty and nasty businness is remembered, they should not be forgotten.

The stability curve basically shows how much the ship can heel before capsizing.
