Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Bill Jurens, you asked : I am having trouble deciphering the chart mentioned, i.e. (download/file.php?id=3346). Although the depiction of the British track on this reconstruction appears to be clearly shown, there appear to be five nearly parallel lines relating to the German form...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Bill Jurens, while I am following with interest this discussion about what may happen on the horizon under many different visibility conditions and situations, ... from different height of observation, ... just as we did with the mirage occurrence time ago, ...to discover later th...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Bill Jurens, I agree with your analysis above, ... as that is a brief summary what this re-construction work is all about at the end, ... a careful analysis of what we do have, ... not very precise given the today possibilities, ... but state of the art on 1941, ... and a logic se...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, it should be a typo on the Admiralty copy of the messages, ... because the original message is the one I have posted. To have the obvious confirmation, it is enough to read the Official Capt J.C. Leach report: There was a long wait while the horizon became gradually more ...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, on December 2nd, 2018 I have posted : http://www.kbismarck.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8335&start=165#p81496 The bearing communicated at 05:44 from PoW was 335° T and not 325° T as you can read on the posted original messages. Initial_bearings_BC1_to_German_squa...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, we are doing a serious work, with geometry and mathematics, mainly using the known official bearings among the various warships. I am personally not interested on your opinion about the Prinz Eugen battle map in general in this moment, we spent way too much time on it alr...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, here in graphic format what we are talking about. I have drew in BLUE the new Prinz Eugen track at 14.900 meters from PoW at 06:00, and just as I wrote above it falls between my previous traced line and your bottom RED line at 27 knots. In order to show everybody tha...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, you have just demonstrated that my evaluation was correct inside your two traced lines, and it is well inside the given tolerances. Once you keep in account the 15.000 meters distance between PG and PoW at 06:00, ... parameter that you did not take in account, ... th...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, I see your examples and I am glad you start producing evaluations and a comparisons, ... because in my opinion it is the only way to fully understand what we are doing and what happened, ... to deeply work on the data and the map. I am glad you worked on the more acc...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, the question is easy to be resolved. If we trust the bearings, .... from PoW to Prinz Eugen at 05:37, ... which was 334° T , ... and from Prinz Eugen to PoW at 06:00, ... that was 143° T, ... as I have showed you on the map above, ... after 23 minutes we have the per...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, interesting speed evaluation difference between BS and PG we can keep on the records. Many thanks. @ all, Anyhow, just confirming the above, here following the official Prinz Eugen speed from own documentation : Prinz_Eugen_speed_from_KTB_24_May_1941.jpg Here the sam...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, I went back from my first set of OS1 bearings ( 4 of them ) to a more easy to verify and accept elementary map of 4 points milestones that I have provided also in large scale for easy verification. Anybody with a ruler can verify course and speed, the whole distance covered by both ...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Herr Nillson, now that I have posted the complete and readable map with the initial milestone, ... even in high scale in details, ... it is enough to measure. Mathematics and geometry ( bearings ) will allow to measure the correct distance between the PoW and the PG at 05:37 at th...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, Brooke surely saw the Bismarck after the first sighting, I have no problems about it. The 05:37 bearing was between PoW and Prinz Eugen, ... as it is more than obvious, ... and will remain as it is. At least it will on my map version for the moment, ... waiting further co...
