Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr.Nilsson: you are right. Thanks. About 'moving' stanchions, reading back the threads, I must acknowledge Mr. Virtuani (mentioning first study of Mr. Bonomi, I presume) for his explanation: see link http://www.kbismarck.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8491&start=435#p82759 ) Also to me, the...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr.Nilsson writing 'If the camera wasn't moved, then the railing has to be visible ': It depends from where the camera is placed and oriented to. If camera is quite close to gunwale (lens almost over railing), looking aft or fore beam, railing can be visible when tilting downward. When loo...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr. Nilsson writing: 'The person who made the film sequence seems to be moving towards the railing ': I do not think movie (film) camera could be moved in any way during sequence. Afaik it was mounted on pedestal and quite bulky: it could only be elevated and trained by operator but only m...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Wadinga writing: 'Do we all accept that these appear to show that Prinz Eugen sheered across Bismarck's bows, at about 90 degrees to her course' It took to me some time to check photos. I disagree with conclusion, while I must correct what I said before. I also agree with caution suggested...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, thanks to Mr. Nilsson for the clear photo. After you found it, I saw the same position, less clearly, in photo of Lutjens visit at Gotenhafen (see below). Litjens-gotenhafen.jpg . Place 1: vertical parts of boat craddles are inclined inboard. The visible 2 third stanchion is vertical and at t...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

to Mr. Wadinga writing: 'My point has always been that since such locations are a tiny fraction of the whole handrail environment of the vessel, if they exist at all, then the strong likelihood is that the vessels are at right angles to one another. It is illogical to argue that there is such a loca...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello,
I see many people are more interested to polemics than to ‘determine‘ anything.

I am not.

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to pgollin writing 'Just because one map is put forward by certain people ... DOES NOT mean it is correct. It is just one option' Then whole history is just opinion. No map of any battle should be drawn. No information about battles development can be accepted as correct. Fine with me, but I ...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr. Wadinga writing: "Can you explain why these photos have to be on the Boat Deck? " Because Mr. Nilsson has posted the second photo, showing the 2 third (not half) stanchion present only AFAIK on boat deck. Before I was looking for chains that are present also on weather deck. I suspect ...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr. Wadinga: Mr. Nilsson has posted a very interesting image showing the short stanchions and place number 1 for them. I'm trying to locate other places (see number 2). If cameraman was the same for the two photos (NH69729 and the one posted by Mr. Nilsson), then emplacement should be on t...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr.northcape: 1) Timing of photos is determined in some cases based from Prinz Eugen map, from other evidences and from correlation to other photos. 2) Timing of film-start is clear from what Mr. Bonomi & Mr. Virtuani have explained several times. Please see "PoW splash" thread for a wrap-...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr. Jurens writing: "O.K. Reading the memo again, I can see that I somewhat misunderstood what you were getting at. That being said, were the proposed tracks themselves not, at least in part, derived from the photos? If so, of course they will match, but only because it's a circular argume...

Re: A correct attribution for the "Flash Effect" photo?

Hello, to Mr. Jurens writing: "MIght you describe the detailed methodology whereby compass courses are derived from this particular image? " I never said that courses can be derived from images. On the contrary, I said courses cannot be derived only from photos (see my 3rd post at page 13). Might yo...
