Re: Germans in WWII having Iowa class battleships

I think it would have made a huge difference if they could have kept their supply ships out and they needed carriers as well for recon and another level of anti air protection

Germans in WWII having Iowa class battleships

Suppose the Germans in WWII had in their arsenal all 4 Iowa class battleships or as close as they can get to the class and the latest upgrades during the time frame of the war plus what the had during the war would that have been enough to change the course of battle in the Atlantic.?

Re: Another Bismarck sortie

I think the Germans could have taken some of the sting away from the British patrols along the faeroes and the Denmark straight with air strikes from the Graf Zepplien and through in some U boat screens in the same areas

Re: Another Bismarck sortie

I agree the only weakness I see in this would be the resupply issues

Another Bismarck sortie

Imagine that the Bismarck sails with the Prinz Eugen, Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and the new aircraft carrier Graf Zepplien to raid the convoys the Bismarck is used to draw off the escorting battleships while the other ships raid the convoys if the Bismarck gets in some trouble they can call on either a...

Re: Bismarck vs. Rodney: hand to hand?

To me it would come to who landed the first big hit if you are going by the actual battle were they met both had disadvantages but a undamaged Bismarck vs a undamaged Rodney a give a slight edge to the Bismarck. Bismarck had quicker firing guns, more speed, and could find the "range" quick...

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

They were planning on using the aircraft carrying subs they had along with the attack on Midway the only benefit I can see is it stalling our reinforcements (they would have to sail around south America instead.)

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

I have heard that Japan was considering also an attack on the Panama canal this along with the 3rd air wave attack would have been a disaster for us in my opinion

Re: Bismarck used as bait

I think this could have been done at the Denmark Straits, Iceland Faero Passages, and around the Orkney Islands if the seas would have permitted this it could have been a disaster for the British because the focus was on the Bismarck and not the subs so much during the chase of the Bismarck.

Bismarck used as bait

Suppose the Bismarck was used as bait to draw the British fleet over wolfpack submarine screens, I understand the Germans had such screens in place any takers on what would have happened if this would have been used?
