Re: Detailed Footage of Bismarck Wreck
thanks, I've been watching these videos over the weekend. There is a lot of interesting footage which answers many questions I had about Bismarck, but maybe raises a few more questions or observations too

Was Bismarck's wood planking painted grey at the bow?
Hi, I recently watched some magnificent footage upploaded onto Youtube and think I spotted what looks like paint on the wood planking at the bow. The planks between the metal ~(?) strip leading to the bow hause and the bollard seen here. Could it be? http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee274/cerberus...

Re: Bismarck Bow Decking
Hi, I noticed this too in some recently released footage. It looks to me to be made of steel, I think it's too thin to be wood. Interesting that no-one has included it in any of the models I've seen. I wonder when it was installed? http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee274/cerberusjf/?action=view&...

Re: A ship history : Scharnhorst
Though I should add that the deck for the 37mm would probably have been covered by removable wood decking, removed for action?

Re: A ship history : Scharnhorst

Re: A ship history : Scharnhorst
Hi rtwpsom2, thanks for your answer. I suspected that the boxes could be or contain some kind of floatation device as these boxes appeared in odd places that didn’t make sense for anything else. But they couldn't be rafts because there were some oval-shaped ones already on board. I haven’t found a t...

Re: A ship history : Scharnhorst
Hi, I have recently become interested in Scharnhorst again and I have found something that is new to me. I was wondering if it is new to people more familiar with this ship? :D While I was watching a film about Operation Juno (and other sorties of Scharnhorst) on the Historic Films dvd on Bismarck, ...
