Re: About the Bodies

I think any penetration of the wreck should be for battle analysis proposes only as too allow for more accurate historical records based on known facts and not assumptions based in propaganda thereby having a more respectful account of the history of War. I would concur completely with this. Look, ...

Re: Best WW2 heavy cruiser = Prinz Eugen ?

Your completely wrong richtea. The German gunnery radar was not even on the same ballpark as the allies,. Actually they were, even late war. PG's FuMO26 had a range accuracy of 25 meters regardless of the range to the target, and a brearing accuracy within 0.10*. The large common mode antenna provi...

Re: Best WW2 heavy cruiser = Prinz Eugen ?

Alecsandros posted; The gunnery system and fire control systems were similar to the German battleships. They also benefitted from the newest gunnery radars. The German gunnery radar was not even on the same ballpark as the allies, for example The Battle of the North Cape. The Scharnhorst from the st...

Re: Argentina's latest claim on the Falklands

So if the few remaining indigenous natives of Argentina ask Mrs De Kirchner for the return of all lands taken from them, the government would not object :?:
I am not holding my breath waiting for an answer. :negative:

Re: Hoods bell

The colour footage of Hood leaving harbour was "new" as for the bell,
I was glad that they failed to recover it. The ships bell should remain as a marker for what is still a war grave for 1,415 sailors.

Re: HMS Rodney

You can't argue with the fact that the Washington Treaty made Nelson and Rodney look different, but for me it states what the Royal Navy's attitude was at this point in history. Put all the guns up front, we only go towards the enemy. That old Nelsonian adage of "Engage the enemy more closely&q...

Re: Royal Navy - The Final Insult?

Ever since the Second World War, governments have cut back our armed forces and now we are at the stage where the Navy don't have enough ships to put on a decent regatta. Our Army after the latest round of cuts will have a strength of approx. 82,000 men/women, that is not even enough personnel for a...

Re: England cricket team now number one in the world

Once more England have gone on a tour under prepaired,
especially the batsmen.
A couple of knock about games after a break does not get a batsman ready for test cricket.
Bowlers can find their rhythm in the nets, batsmen need time out in the middle.

Re: Tirpitz instead of Scharnhorst in North Cape

My point is that in the Arctic winter not using your radar meant that you were blundering around like a blind man who has lost his cane. So no matter what ships you have got you are at a tactical disadvantage. For all the technological might of the Third Reich they under estimated the advantage that...

Re: Tirpitz instead of Scharnhorst in North Cape

In any scenario at the battle of the North Cape, no matter what combination of surface ships the Kriegsmarine had out there they still practiced radar silence. In December in the Arctic this means that they were in almost total 24 hour darkness in a force 10 storm, trying to find a convoy that might...

Re: England cricket team now number one in the world

Now the hard work begins. Since the 51 all out in the Windies, the team have performed exceptionally well. We have got to be number 1, now we have to strive to stay there and become known as a great team. To do this we have to stay at the top of the table for some years. Then we can be compared with...

Re: Kriegsmarine radars

Thank you ALL for the replies, they have helped me to try and understand why admiral Bey did not use the one tool that could have helped him to find JW55B. Obviously once the covering cruisers destroyed his radar he was almost certain to fail. Yet he still tried another sweep to the north. Regards R...
