Re: The USA Presidential election 2024

@northcape Ah, danke. Bei einer Einordnung von Springer tue ich mir persönlich immer etwas schwer. Deswegen war ich etwas erstaunt, dass ausgerechnet Springer als Beispiel aufgeführt wird. The correct sentence would be "The polling showed that the majority of the voters see the actions of the E...

Re: The USA Presidential election 2024

Hi Byron, " Keep in mind that our entire western media serve as homonculi of the US/EU/NATO cabal. " Frankly, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. For example, those are the official "values" of Axel-Springer-Verlag, one of the largest news publishing cooperations in Eur...

AFAIK 12 a.m. is midnight and 12 p.m. is noon. To make it simple it should read 12:00 h or noon

Re: Group North and Group West

The official border between Group North and West for Rheinübung was the line from the southern tip of Greenland to the northern tip of the Hebrides. If this line was crossed, a message should be made to the groups, which triggered the transfer of command. Based on the intercepted shadowings reports,...

Re: Bismarck and European battleships vs.US battleships - hull shape and seakeeping qualities.

... The designers would have known the planned height above sea surface and evidently considered it adequate and therefore built a housing for a rangefinder, and in any case it is clear the Dora turret was at much the same height and did ship a rangefinder. However the spray factor is IMHO unchalle...

@wadinga
Read:
"excellent indifferent [to sea state] seagoing vessels with calm, flat pitching and low rolling movements".

In regard of the Baltic:

Yes, the Baltic is not the Atlantic, but OTOH I don't know any reports stating that Bismarck and Tirpitz had bad seakeeping qualities.

Re: Secundary guns turrets

Below every foremost turret is a handling room. The 15 cm magazines were behind bulkheads of this handling room. The shells and charges were stored on the opposite side of these bulkheads (distance ~1.5m). Ammunition was transported through small hatches into the handling room. The hatches were loca...

Re: Bismarck and European battleships vs.US battleships - hull shape and seakeeping qualities.

The AVKS-report states: "The subsequent installation of a rangefinder in turret A, which was still pending for the time being, can now be definitively omitted."

Re: Bismarck and European battleships vs.US battleships - hull shape and seakeeping qualities.

Bismarck is also rather wet forwards, leading to the range finder in A turret being unusable. That's not quite right. Bismarck's range A-turret finder was never installed and the real reason for not installing it later on was the low height above the waterline, which made it rather useless. Regardi...

Re: Gun precision / dispersion

Gneisenau had two brand-new FuMG 40G in early Dezember 41(one TS6 and one TS1). Gneisenau's old FuMG 39G TS1 was transfered to Scharnhorst and got a TS6 (Scharnhorst was the first ship, which had both devices equipped with TS6). At the same time Tirpitz had one FuMG 39G with TS1, one FuMG 40G with T...

Re: Identify indicator

@Marcello Malara Original plans? No, not plans in a narrower sense. On the whole I would estimate 1.5-2 m shelf space originals (operating manuals, building regulations etc.). @wadinga Thanks for the compliment, but this certainly overexaggerated. There are so many wonderful small design and enginee...

Re: Identify indicator

I've colored Hipper's clutch and I hope it helps to understand the mechanism: They used a bevel gear to synchronise the revolutions of the turbine (blue) and propeller (yellow) shaft. In case of indentical revolutions the green part wouldn't rotate anymore (except the upper bevel wheel). The revolut...
