Re: Japanese Invasion US mainland

BlackBirdZGTR, What have you not explained to any of us is how the Japanese, with their very limited resources, will accomplish all these. This is primary thing that must be solved in order to jump to following logical step. Regards, I thought i did not need to explain since it was not even possibl...

Re: Japanese Invasion US mainland

I do believe that they would have big trouble when landing near Los Angeles with the gangs there. Nope: Japan cannot make it. Lol gangs? What decade is this? Anyways, a thing people do not realize... Say Japan is winning the war, they take Midway, isolate Australia, knock out the Panama canal for o...

Re: Would Japan abandon Germany if...

If they could of done it, it would of completely crippled any means for the US to project itself in the pacific... IF Japan had the ability to do so though.

Would Japan abandon Germany if...

The war in the pacific was going in their favor? Say if hypothetically Japan has successfully isolated Australia by capturing Port Moresby, kicking the US out of New Caledonia, Fiji and Samoa as a result the only major military bastion they have left in the Pacific is Hawaii by mid 1943. As a result...

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

Then... How different are the locks of the Panama canal as opposed to the locks of a drydock? Because from what i read if an attack on the Panama canal were ever commenced the Canal might of been unoperational for over a year?

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

How easy do you think it would be to make a drydock unuseable? The British filled a destroyer with explosives and rammed one to put it out of action. I imagine a few bombs wouldn't have done the job or the Brits would have done that. Hmm, good point but would an airstrike with armor piercing bombs ...

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

Probably not. Although in some wierd circumstances it might. If the drydock and repair facilities at Pearl Harbor are damaged that means that the Yorktown would not be able to participate in the Battle of Midway, after the historical battle of the Coral Sea's Yorktown would instead need to head to ...

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave

The third strike would of brought victory to Japan at Midway, if the drydock facilities at Pearl Harbor are destroyed then the battered post Coral Sea USS Yorktown would of needed to head all the way to the west coast preventing it from ever being able to take part in the battle of Midway. A better ...

2700 16 inch super heavy shell scaled up.

Say what if the Japanese developed a scaled up version of the 16 inch super heavy shell scaled up for the Yamatos guns? The 2700 super heavy shells scaled to 18.1 inchs, if my calculations are correct would weigh in about 3900 lbs giving the Yamato a broadside weight of 35,100 lbs; nearly a 7,000 po...

40 cm/45 Type 94 vs 16"/50 caliber Mark 7

Does anyone have any information on the performance of each gun and how they compared to one another? I know the 16"/50 guns had comparable penetration to the 18.1 inch guns of the Yamato at long ranges but by just how much were they?

Re: Bismarck and Prince Eugen replaced by...

BlackBirdZGTR-Prince of Wales reached a speed of just over 29kts while moving to intercept Bismarck. On the other hand Yamato had a top speed of 27kts and I've never seen anything to show that she ever acheived a higher speed than this. I've never seen anything ever telling me a KGV class battleshi...

Re: Bismarck and Prince Eugen replaced by...

Vs the Japanese ships the British wouldn't have to be in as much of a hurry as Yamato can't outrun the British BBs. If they know much about Yamato they will wait for more BBs (KG V and Rodney?). This may allow an air strike or two before they engage as well. End result if this happens is Denmark st...

Bismarck and Prince Eugen replaced by...

Lets say if in this hypothetical scenario the Battleship Bismarck and Heavy Cruiser Prince Eugen, were replaced by the Yamato(1945 config) and Takao, or by the Iowa and Baltimore during Operation Rheinübung? How would the battle of the Denmark Strait unfold? Would the Prince of Wales had been able t...
