Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Thanks RF, good points! Yes, there is various interfaces for situational awarness, like a map and a work in progress UI for information about spotted targets. I will show it off as soon as it looks a little better! Yeah, that's indeed a giant moon :-) I have not spent time adjusting the weather asse...

Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Hey! I finally finished some heavy work on the AI and now I am doing some tests with a newly compiled build. Seems to run just fine! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0iGrssvIibM?si=nUZV1OsXyRGOyHE5" title="YouTube video player&quo...

Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Hi everyone! During early autumn I decided to tackle my old system for terrain generation which was rather slow and low resolution. Instead of using Unitys built in terrains for rendering my heightdata I am now generating custom meshes where I much easier can add some procedural noice to increase th...

Re: Identify indicator
Hey! I havn't implemented everything we have discussed in this thread yet. But I still wanted to share my progress and say thanks for the help again! You can see the command bridge if you fast forward to 7:22. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/emb...

Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Hey everyone! Finally time for a little update. I have been hard at work with the ai and various controlls for the ship. More importantly I've reached some big milestones regarding time compression, handling abstractions of ai ships and a custom mission editor. The time compression allows for having...

Re: Identify indicator
Great! Then I was not too far off atleast. Interesting that there is no bearing to target. Unless the relationship between "Eigenes Schiff" (own ship) "Gegner" (opponent) indicated the target bearing in a similar way as this FCC does: https://www.usni.org/sites/default/files/styl...

Re: Identify indicator
Next I am working on the Gefechtsbildempfänger, 35 in the plan. I am also looking at 36. The plan shows it like this: https://i.imgur.com/opRQags.png And I made a guess that it would be the same as this one from Bismarck: https://i.imgur.com/g1f2hnY.png The plans description: https://i.imgur.com/11r...

Re: Identify indicator
Thank you, Herr Nilsson!Herr Nilsson wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 11:12 am It's the coupling indicator of the thrust blocks of the three shafts. I assume the lamps indicate "coupled", "coupling" and "decoupled".
I think I understand thrust block, but in which case would they be decoupled?
All the best!

Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Yes, I guess this relates to my situational awarness dilema. Currently the plan is that AI can control anything you are not controlling. So as a torpedo warning is announced, you could let the AI manouver and keep firing, or leave the guns to the AI and switch to the helm. My goal is that you could ...

Re: Identify indicator
"Schiffswellen" are the ship's shafts, port, center and starboard. There are however 9 "lights" in that panel. Thank you! That makes more sense. I've had a hard time translating Schiffswellen... Number 14 says: Empfänger - Schiffswellen U.Z. Anlage. I imagine that is the shafts ...

Re: Battleship Command: Scharnhorst
Hi Byron! Then I can imagine you have also struggled with game balancing, fun and gameplay mechanics! Quite difficult task, but very stimulating. It's far too easy to chase after more complexity and increase the scope unnecessary, but I've been strict on myself to only simulate mechanics that makes ...

Re: Identify indicator
What you have circled in red is to the right of switches 11, 12, and 13. It isn't shown in your diagram and is not the thing you asked the meaning of. Item 10 is to the left of the three switches 11, 12, and 13 and is not in your photo, so "Ausk. Schiffswellen" is not relevant to your que...
