Re: Kongo Class: Fast Battleship or Battlecruiser
In my opinion, comparing Kongo class battlecruisers to regular battleships is like comparing a sighthound to a Caucasian shepherd ; the Caucasian shepherd (the regular battleship) will be slower and tire herself easily in a running contest, but if push come to shove, the sighthound (Kongo class) doe...

Re: President Trump: mid-term
Brain surgery in the dark is quite an appropriate comparison ; especially since Trump's words and actions do not correlate with each other at all. And that's not just words compared to actions, but words compared to other words and actions compared to other actions as well! There's no way to guess w...

Re: President Trump: mid-term
I'm not from the USA, but if I was a citizen there in 2016, there'd be quite a decent chance that my left wing self would have voted for Trump, which is terrible in his own right, but far more benign than Clinton, which would have already plunged us into WW3. That doesn't mean that Trump is good tho...

Re: Scharnhorst w/ 38cm's and other improvements
Yeah, it CAN be seen as a decapping plate, but that's definitely an "all purpose" armor plate aimed at protecting what's behind it against most threats, smaller calibres, bombs from airplanes...

Re: Yamato Instead of Kirishima 13th Nov 1942
I wouldn't call Guadalcanal Japan's Stalingrad ; I'd rather draw an equivalence between Midway and Stalingrad (main turning point, the Allied powers take an advantage with the destruction of the Akagi and Kaga carriers/the German 6th Army) and between Guadalcanal and Kursk (confirmation of Allied su...

Re: Soviet Union carriers
I'm necroposting this, but that's because I've researched the topic quite a lot recently. Blame the Wargame trilogy and Team Yankee for this. Anyways. The Soviet Navy had little use for carriers both before and after WW2 for several reasons. Before WW2, the USSR was still suffering from the aftermat...

Re: How did you come to be interested in Bismarck?
Hello everyone, I'm using this thread to introduce myself. I'm November, 29, from France although I live in Russia now, and I've been fascinating by naval warfare, especially battleships, since I've been aware that such things exist. I joined this forum because the Bismarck is one hell of a legendar...
