Isn't it true that at least some of the 8" AA cruisers (LOL) had their gun elevation reduced when they had major overhauls? I don't see why the Japanese would be surprised since they had AA shells for the Yamato's main battery. According to Shattered Sword, by Parshall & Tully, the Japanes...
