Re: Blucher in Dogger Bank

Scheer's book was IMO clearly intended for consumption by the postwar general public in Germany. Whatever "heroic" liberties he took with the historical account are understandable on that basis. The book was also far greater in scope than Jutland alone; Scheer covered the entire naval war ...

Re: Blucher in Dogger Bank

Thank you Byron for that source material with the German official account of Skagerrak (Monthly Information Bulletin - (Office of Naval Intelligence, Navy Department), Supplement Number Four, February 1926). Re: Blucher in Dogger Bank

I own at least ten books by Friedman, starting with his first work, “Battleship Design and Development 1905-1945” published all the way back in 1978. However, my opinion of Friedman has unfortunately rather diminished over recent years. He seems to have developed (IMO) a serious case of compulsive ...

Re: Blucher in Dogger Bank

Yes, I know. I invariably turn up like a bad penny whenever Jutland is being discussed. I happen to have a translation copy of “The German Official Account of the Sea Battle off the Skaggerak (Jutland)” as it appeared in the “MONTHLY INFORMATION BULLETIN, Office of Naval Intelligence, for February,...

Re: The USA Presidential election 2024

People desiring to identify an antidote to the threat of Deep State Globalist dominion only need to identify whom they are trying hardest to destroy.

Work it out from there.

Re: The USA Presidential election 2024

Hi Byron, Well I have to stay home at Election Day because I am not an US citizen (but if I would be, I guess my sentiment would be the same; I honestly think from all fake-democracies the US is the most phony one). >>>>> Frankly, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. But we resettled back t...

Re: The USA Presidential election 2024

Well, since the US is run by the CIA and the Pentagon on behalf of the military-industrial complex, the Israel lobby, and a few big cooperations anyway, it makes no difference at all if a senile war-monger or a senile pathological narcissist is sleeping in the White House. Like all presidents in th...

You have embraced an historic naval tale worthy of Patrick O’Brian.

Best of luck, Mike!

Re: Blucher in Dogger Bank

Hi guys. In this battle Blucher was abandoned by the rest of the German ships, that could (orders notwithstanding) have stood by her. Was there any other case of a fellow ship left alone like this (in any war in the steam era)? Regards I’m only four and a half years late here 🤪, but the German ligh...

Re: KMS BLUCHER

The Germans were unaware of a torpedo battery near Oscarsborg's main gun battery at North Kaholmen Island. Built in 1901, it was equipped with three shore-mounted dual elevators firing the torpedoes via underwater tunnels. The torpedoes were Austro-Hungarian-built Whitehead torpedoes (in the torped...
