Re: Expedition Bismarck 2012
Respectfully looking inside the wreck , I would be in favour of that , removing anything - absolutely not.

Re: Did Bismarck offer surrender?
Having read the book in question, and it is not a bad read, the answer still has to be no.

Re: Wreck salvage
Although I have not posted here very often, in my spare time I do a fair bit of reading on things Kriegsmarine related and in the course of this Bismarck and other capital ships. I can't really figure out why anyone would wish to raise the ship and much less why anyone would ever want to as has alre...

Bismarck's "Anton" / front turret.
The lack of "ears" on the forward turret , when did the "ears" disappear and why ?
Would anyone have a photo of the "ear less front turret ?
Prinz Eugen also lacked a range finding unit on her forward turret.
thanks

Re: How did you come to be interested in Bismarck?
An "Airfix" kit for my birthday many (many ) years ago , and a copy of Ludovic Kennedy's "Pursuit" , this backed up by his excellent and now very sadly neglected documentary made for the BBC in 1972..... when I think of the often repeated material seen on "Sky" and &quo...

Re: Killing the Bismarck
The authors view that revenge was a huge part of the motivation in sinking her does bring to mind Churchill's order to "Sink the Bismarck" not that the intention of Tovey and Holland was ever anything less to sink her , Hood's loss stunned national pride sinking her was one thing - "K...

Re: Killing the Bismarck
I have almost finished it , when you get used to the author's style of writing it is not too bad. To being with the quality of the construction of the book is quite good , text is clear , font size good , quality of illustrations is varied and reproduction is sharp, map/ diagrams - too small and hel...
