Photo etched puzzle

I can not seem to do the PE rails on a 1/700 Dragon Bismarck, which is exquisite in its detail. I have tried 3 kinds of crazy glue, Testor's glue for PE, and Future floor wax. I've tried several different ways to glue, both trying to bond the back lower edge of the rail to the outside side edge of t...

Photo Etched - how to?

I have started the Dragon Bismarck premium edition, and it appears to be the most accurate I have ever built, and my first was in 1962 with the first by Aurora. The previous most accurate was the Tamiya 1:350, although I have not done the Trumpeter. My problem is that I have never done photo etched....

Gneisnau turret

That is so cool! I never knew that happened. I had read recently that they were going to regun the Scharnhorst & Gneisnau with 38 cm twins, but the RAF kept bombing them so it never got done. Thank you, that is a treat indeed. Am I to assume that is "A" turret because it lacks a range ...

Bergen?

Thank you for your reply. I find it interesting that you are so close to where Bismarck stopped in so long ago. Are there any remnants of Tirpitz at or near Tromso? Sorry if my spelling isn't quite correct. I have a friend who went to Lillihammer when the Olympics were there. He said that the people...

Scharnhorst, 1:570 by Revell Germany

I have yet to see a model of this version of the Scharnhorst on any of the model websites. Can anybody comment on it? The old Revell Bismarck is a disaster, almost a cartoon, but most companies have better molds today as a result of obtaining accurate plans. As an aside, I have a version of the earl...

DK Scharnhorst - 43 yr. old mystery

The one and only model I have been able to retain 95% intact from childhood is the 1:600 Airfix Scharnhorst I built in 1965. At that time, I referred to a photo from an old U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings issue that (Jan. 1960) that showed the ship before the Atlantic bow was installed. The picture...

The U.S.S. Salem

Hi, Can you point me in the direction to get a US format DVD or VHS of Pursuit of the Graf Spee or The Battle of the River Platte ? I did an extensive search on the internet and could only find European format DVD's for a reasonable price. Only E-bay had a copy for a "rip off" price. I am ...

Battleship Top Ten...........

Thanks for that tip. I will try a Barnes and Noble to see if they may carry that mag. Try this URL if you haven't been there already: http://www.battleshipcove.org

I am very interested in Naval History, mostly 20th century.

Last great surface actions.........

Yes you are correct. From the German point of view the Scharnhorst's
final battle was the last. Leyte Gulf /Phillipene Sea are probably the last where surface ships slugged it out.

How about the Italians?

It seems to me that the Littorio class were a modern efficient design. They did not have very good torpedo armour as was evidenced by their demise at Tarranto at the hands of the RN Swordfish crews! They had 9 -15" or 38cm guns in more modern triple mounts, 30+ knot speed, and decent armour. I ...

Battle of North Cape?

Wasn't the valiant end of the Sharnhorst after this? Like December 26, 1943? I think I'm correct on this.

Bismarck RAL colors - Denmark Straight

Hello Master Marine Modelers! I assume that the most universal color code is the RAL system. I'm using Testors ACRYL whenever possible, because I can buy it in a local shop, and it covers and is so workable vs. other water based paints. In looking at the 1:50th Blohm and Voss model, it appears that ...

This is a magnificent model but......

Check out the admiral's bridge windows. The front looks good but the sides should have 4 windows, not three.

I can't speak or write German so someone who can should let this guy know.
